BCR Quality Consultation

  • BCR is launching a new online quality consultation service starting
    10/9/2024. During our beta-phase, the first 20 individuals or organizations who submit an online request for a quality consultation with payment will receive a one- time 20% discount off their registration tickets to the Obstetric Patient Safety Summit (OPSS) activities:
    * Pre-Summit Storytelling Workshop: February 19, 2025
    * 3-Day Summit: February 20 - 22, 2025
    * Sunday Brunch & one signed copy of the book: February 23, 2025

    The first 20 beta-testers who also attend OPSS 2025 will also be invited to partner with BCR in 2025 on a quality improvement or implementation initiative.

  • Individuals or organizations in a community, academic, government, or industry health-related setting who provide services to Black women, girls, or gender expansive individuals seeking a health-related service or support for any pregnancy- related concern (e.g., nausea/vomiting, miscarriage, termination, (in)fertility, lactation, mental health, fetal loss, birth) or any health-related concern (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, sexually transmitted infection, fibroids, pelvic pain, abdominal pain).

  • To improve quality of obstetric care by addressing obstetric racism and advancing a SACKRED Birth during childbirth hospitalization

    To improve the four steps of clinical reasoning during care: information sensing and gathering
    developing a differential diagnosis of quality challenges
    * reflecting upon and revising differential diagnosis

    * designing and implementing prevention and mitigation strategies

    To examine and improve consent and decision-making policies, practices, and behaviors during care experiences.

    To examine and improve oral and written health care documentation and dissemination of policies, practices, and behaviors (e.g, patient sign-outs, patient handoffs, quality and patient safety reports)

  • Complete an online consultation request form and provide information about the requestor, affiliated organization, patient or client, differential diagnosis of quality challenges, and narrative of the care incident or experience. BCR Quality Consultants provide education, advice, support, and resources based on information shared with us through our online platform without the benefit of a direct online or in-person

  • BCR Quality Consultants do NOT provide medical care or medical advice. BCR

    Quality Consultants provide information in the form of advice. Therefore, BCR

    quality advice does not replace local healthcare provision or decision-making. BCR

    Quality Consultation serves as an online educational, advisory, and coaching

    resource. Requestors can freely choose to disregard any advice offered. Final clinical

    decisions about quality and safety are the primary responsibility of the health care

    professional.

  • Basic Advice for $1000 for review of one patient or client pregnancy-related care experience : 1) Comprehensive review of consultation request with a minimum of a one-time follow-up communication from a BCR quality and patient safety expert; 2) Standard written response includes a one-page identification and characterization of the potential quality violation(s) using different evidence based quality frameworks and narrative analysis; 3) One-time FREE 20 minute follow-up video or phone consultation to discuss any additional questions, concerns, or advice about the existing patient or client care experience.

    Enhanced Advice for $2500 for review of one patient or client pregnancy-related care experience: 1) Comprehensive review of consultation request with a minimum of a one-time follow-up communication from a BCR quality and patient safety expert; 2) Standard written response includes a one-page identification and characterization of the potential quality violation(s) using different evidence based quality frameworks and narrative analysis; 3) Curated written list of prevention and mitigation strategies to address the quality violation at the interpersonal, clinician - staff, unit - departmental, institutional, and structural level; and 4) One-time FREE 30 minute follow-up video or phone consultation to discuss any additional questions, concerns, or advice about the existing patient or client care experience.
